UBC admitted it's first students in 1915. Today UBC is Canada's third largest university, with a total enrolment of about 35,000 students. Whitehall - street and locality in the City of Westminster, London. The street runs between Charing Cross and the Houses of Parliament. The name Whitehall also applies to the cluster of short streets, squares, and govermental buildings adjoining the street. Whitehall has been the site of principal goverment offices since the establishment og Henry VIII's court at Whitehall Palace in the 1530s. The areas attractions include the Cenotaph war memorial, Downing street(with the prime minister's residence), the Horse Guards Parade, Great Scotland Yard ( the former home of the Metropolian Police, now at New Scotland Yard), and the Banqueting House(1619-22), designed by Inigo Jones.

Preacher says world will actually end in October

As crestfallen followers of a California preacher who foresaw the world's end strained to find meaning in their lives, Harold Camping revised his apocalyptic prophecy, saying he was off by five months and the Earth actually will be obliterated on Oct. 21.

Camping, who predicted that 200 million Christians would be taken to heaven Saturday before global cataclysm struck the planet, said yesterday that he felt so terrible when his doomsday message did not come true that he left home and took refuge in a motel with his wife. His independent ministry, Family Radio International, spent millions — some of it from donations made by followers — on more than 5,000 billboards and 20 recreational vehicles plastered with the Judgment Day message.

Follower Jeff Hopkins also spent a good deal of his own retirement savings on gas money to power his car so people would see its ominous lighted sign showcasing Camping's May 21 warning. As the appointed day drew nearer, Hopkins started making the 100-mile (160-kilometer) round trip from Long Island to New York City twice a day, spending at least $15 on gas each trip.

If you were to sum up the city of Rome in two words, they would be "busy" and "historic". Today Rome is one of the most important tourist destinations of the world. I think, you'll make a right choice, if you go to Rome.

First you should go to the Colosseum-the enduring symbol of ancient Rome. Today, the Colosseum is used for religious purposes. The Pope leads a procession on good Fridays called the station of the cross. The Colosseum of Rome has been given great importance by the media and that is the reason why a lot of Hollywood movies had been shot in this amphitheater.

Your next stop can be the Capitoline Hill. It is a great place to get a view of the Roman Forum. The focal point of the hill is the grand Piazza del Campidoglio designed by Michelangelo. There are two important museums housing an impressive collection of sculptures, paintings and mosaics.

Rome is a great city for walking. There are a lot of walking tours around Rome and the price is about 40 euros per person. You can take a lot of amazing photos, but you should be careful of pickpockets on crowded streets.

So, I believe you'll enjoy the trip and my advice will be useful.

The royal wedding has come and gone, and even the cynics would have a difficult time finding anything to criticize. The bride was beautiful, the groom was charmingly nervous, and the entire day was, to use a well-worn cliché, a lot like a fairy tale.

In a day full of special moments, several managed to rise above the rest. Here now, the five magical moments to remember from the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The kiss: Take two

Imagine 2 billion people, including the queen of England, watching you and your new spouse kiss for the first time as husband and wife. No pressure, right? William and Kate were in that exact situation and handled the moment with grace.True, their first kiss was a bit on the short side, but the happy couple made up for the abbreviated PDA when they went in for a second smooch.One of the unintentional stars of the moment was little bridesmaid Grace Van Cutsem, who was on the balcony with William and Kate. The three-year-old, no doubt annoyed by the thunderous applause from the crowd, put her hands over her ears at the exact moment William and Kate kissed. It was every photographer's dream come true.

William's whisper
When your wedding is being televised around the world, private moments between bride and groom are a little hard to come by. That's what made William's whisper to Kate so special.

As Kate reached the front of Westminster Abbey with her father, William turned to the future Duchess of Cambridge and, according to lip readers, whispered, "You look beautiful." It wasn't exactly a private moment (there were lip readers, after all), but the three words went a long way toward giving the royal wedding a very human feel.

The most important people at any wedding are, in order: The bride, the bride, and the bride. Fortunately, Kate handled the pressure perfectly.

With all eyes understandably upon her, and after months of breathless anticipation as to what she'd look like in her wedding gown, Kate Middleton entered Westminster Abbey and knocked 'em dead. Wearing a gown by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, the bride was, by all accounts, gorgeous, beautiful, dazzling... you get the idea.

She's already a fashion icon in the making. Within hours of her wedding, knockoff dresses were available online.

"The Graduate" getaway
After the champagne reception at Buckingham Palace, William and Kate made a surprise appearance in beautiful Aston Martin convertible. The car, decorated with balloons, ribbons, and tin cans and sporting a "just wed" license plate, belongs to Prince Charles. It was a gift to him from the queen on his 21st birthday.

The couple's quick drive was reminiscent of the classic film "The Graduate" in which Dustin Hoffman drives an Alfa Romeo convertible in an attempt to break up the wedding of the love of his life. No such drama here. William and Kate drove, waved, and, we assume, returned the car to Charles without a scratch.

Pippa wows in green dress

Kate Middleton was, of course, the star of the show. But her younger sister Pippa came in a close second. At the after-hours wedding celebration, the 27-year-old wore a stunning emerald dress that led to an avalanche of Web searches.

Almost immediately, online lookups for "pippa middleton green dress" and "photos of pippa in green dress" surged into the stratosphere. Yahoo's Martin Rogers reported that while there was some speculation of a blooming romance between Pippa and Prince Harry, those were just rumors and nothing more. So don't get your hopes up.
